WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Air Products And Chemicals Inc. (APD) announced
earnings for its first quarter that increased from last year but missed the
Street estimates.

The company's earnings totaled $609.3 million, or $2.73 per share. This
compares with $572.2 million, or $2.57 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Excluding items, Air Products And Chemicals Inc. reported adjusted earnings of
$628.0 million or $2.82 per share for the period.

Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $3.00 per share, according
to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude
special items.

The company's revenue for the quarter fell 5.4% to $3.00 billion from $3.17
billion last year.
