SEATTLE (dpa-AFX) - Expeditors International of Washington Inc. (EXPD)
released a profit for second quarter that decreased from the same period last
year and missed the Street estimates.

The company's bottom line came in at $196.80 million, or $1.30 per share. This
compares with $377.81 million, or $2.27 per share, in last year's second
quarter.

Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $1.38 per share, according
to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude
special items.

The company's revenue for the quarter fell 51.3% to $2.24 billion from $4.60
billion last year.
