WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Progress Software Corp (PRGS) released earnings for
third quarter that decreased from the same period last year but beat the Street estimates.

The company's earnings came in at $19.10 million, or $0.42 per share. This
compares with $21.80 million, or $0.50 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Excluding items, Progress Software Corp reported adjusted earnings of $48.75
million or $1.08 per share for the period.

Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $1.00 per share, according
to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude
special items.

The company's revenue for the quarter rose 15.7% to $174.99 million from $151.22
million last year.
