WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Columbia Sportswear Company (COLM) announced earnings
for first quarter that decreased from last year but beat the Street estimates.

The company's earnings came in at $42.30 million, or $0.71 per share. This
compares with $46.20 million, or $0.74 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $0.35 per share, according
to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude
special items.

The company's revenue for the quarter fell 6.2% to $769.98 million from $820.59
million last year.
