Essen, GERMANY (dpa-AFX) - Germany energy group RWE will supply US
software company Microsoft with green electricity from two new wind
farms in the US state of Texas, the company announced from its
headquarters in the city of Essen on Thursday.

Two 15-year electricity supply contracts have been signed with
Microsoft Corporation, RWE said.

Construction has already begun on the onshore wind farm named Peyton
Creek II with a capacity of 243 megawatts. RWE has made the final
investment decision for the Lane City wind farm with a capacity of
203 megawatts. The plan is to install wind turbines with an output of
4.5 megawatts each.

The order volume and the agreed electricity quantities were not
disclosed.

By way of comparison, the Reussenköge community wind farm in the far
northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein, one of the largest wind
farms in the country, has an installed capacity of 293.4 megawatts.

'As RWE, we are excited to be working with Microsoft to provide the
clean electricity they need to achieve their sustainability goals,'
said Andrew Flanagan, head of the North American subsidiary RWE Clean
Energy, according to the press release.
