WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - CMS Energy Corp. (CMS) released earnings for its
third quarter that increased from last year but missed the Street estimates.

The company's bottom line totaled $174 million, or $0.60 per share. This
compares with $163 million, or $0.56 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Excluding items, CMS Energy Corp. reported adjusted earnings of $178 million or
$0.61 per share for the period.

Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $0.67 per share, according
to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude
special items.

The company's revenue for the quarter fell 17.3% to $1.67 billion from $2.02
billion last year.
