REDMOND (dpa-AFX) - Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) announced earnings for its
third quarter that increased from the same period last year and beat the Street estimates.

The company's earnings came in at $21.94 billion, or $2.94 per share. This
compares with $18.30 billion, or $2.45 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $2.63 per share, according
to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude
special items.

The company's revenue for the quarter rose 17.0% to $61.86 billion from $52.86
billion last year.
