WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - PNC Financial Services Group Inc. (PNC) reported a
profit for fourth quarter that decreased from the same period last year but
beat the Street estimates.

The company's earnings came in at $744 million, or $1.85 per share. This
compares with $1.41 billion, or $3.47 per share, in last year's fourth quarter.

Excluding items, PNC Financial Services Group Inc. reported adjusted earnings of
$1.27 billion or $3.16 per share for the period.

Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $2.94 per share, according
to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude
special items.

The company's revenue for the quarter fell 6.9% to $5.36 billion from $5.76
billion last year.
