WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Becton, Dickinson and Company (BDX) released a profit
for its second quarter that increased from last year and beat the Street
estimates.
The company's bottom line totaled $537 million, or $1.85 per share. This
compares with $438 million, or $1.53 per share, in last year's second quarter.
Excluding items, Becton, Dickinson and Company reported adjusted earnings of
$3.17 per share for the period.
Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $2.97 per share, according
to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude
special items.
The company's revenue for the quarter rose 4.8% to $5.05 billion from $4.82
billion last year.
