27.05.2024 11:51:17 - dpa-AFX: German airline Lufthansa to bring back free drinks in economy class
FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - German airline Lufthansa will again offer free
drinks in economy class on short and medium-haul flights this summer
on a trial basis, the airline announced on Monday.
The decision comes three years after the airline scrapped free drinks
in economy class on almost all shorter flights.
Lufthansa chief executive Jens Ritter had previously announced the
test run in several interviews, in hopes that free drink service may
lead to higher customer satisfaction.
Selected drinks such as tea or coffee will be available, the airline
said on Monday. Customer reactions are to be recorded as part of the
ongoing customer satisfaction analyses.
Lufthansa ended the free service in economy class in summer 2021 and
replaced it with paid offers.
Passengers still received a bottle of water and a piece of chocolate
without paying. Hot drinks on board cost between ?3 and ?3.50 ($3.25
to $3.80), while tomato juice costs ?3.20.
